These cast iron air bricks are based on the max flow and traditional square hole pattern.
The Fly Screen air bricks are supplied with a fitted copper mesh which is
especially useful to prevent ingress of foreign objects into ducting and
ventilation systems, ie. insects, cigarettes, matches, gum and litter etc.
They have been
installed in a number of medical establishments and dentists especially in
listed buildings and are very effective at preventing the ingress of summer
flies and midges. At low levels they are especially useful in preventing rodents
gaining access into properties.
The removable mesh can be cleaned and replaced as part of a planned maintenance
system cutting down accumulation of dirt within ventilation
ducting when fitted on air inlets and so reducing the risk of fires.

Paint or Bare Metal?
Our cast iron products contain iron, nearly 100% iron
to be precise and this iron will rust if it isn't kept protected from moisture
and air. Whilst many of our products are supplied painted, we do offer
customers the choice to have some of them left bare metal. It seems strange to
leave them bare metal to go rusty but the rust coating on iron acts as a
protection against corrosion and ensures the air brick will remain for 100 years
or more without any preservation. In fact, many of the ironware we see in our
high streets and roads (drain covers and gutters) are unpainted.
We can paint the removable fronts of the flyscreen air bricks for you if
required . We would recommend either a painted or bare metal finish if the air bricks
are installed
in red bare brick walls and painted air bricks for external rendered
or painted walls and for any internal use. Our painted air bricks are primed and
then painted using a two-part professional epoxy black gloss paint which will
need repainting from time to time.
