All our castings are created equal, but the results to the naked eye do appear different.
That’s because they’re not machine made, but cast by hand so each one is unique.
There are dozens of factors, possibly even up to a hundred different factors that affect the surface finish of castings. The temperature when creating the mold out of sand for the iron to be poured into, the composition of the recyled iron , the humidity of the foundry when the iron is poured, the list of variables is vast ! These factors alter the surface finish of the castings and when painted, the absorbancy of the iron casting alters the appearance of the painted product so there are no castings that will be identical. We do, however, try to select grilles and air bricks with as close to a matching finish when customers order more than one. A bit like wallpaper, one batch can look slightly different to another batch.
Should customers place repeat orders, some degree of allowance should be made when comparing orders with previously purchased castings because they will all look different .
