Soaking up carbon during a drought

1976 and 1977 will be remembered (for those of us old enough to remember) as exceptionally dry years. So little rain fell during both summers that water rationing had to be enforced to maintain supplies. Such a thing hasn’t been heard of since, but say hello to 2025 ! It is a seriously parched year and grass, even in the Westcountry, is shrivelling up and turning brown. Thankfully, lack of rain isn’t affecting our cast iron air brick production but its hampering the growth of our new trees. Trees we’re growing on to create our new woodland and offset our carbon emissions.
Although it would be easy enough to connect up to the mains water, we’re anticipating a hose pipe ban and also becoming more self sufficient by connecting our water system by pumping straight out of our well.
We’ve even sourced a 12v pump so we can connect up to batteries and the plan is, to recharge these batteries from solar panels.
There’s so much more to offsetting carbon emissions than you’d think, isn’t there?
